Velké Popovice Brewery

One of the major Czech breweries. Since 1 October 2002, the Velké Popovice Brewery has been officially part of Plzeňský Prazdroj, a. s., and thus a member of the group that is the second-largest producer of beer in the world - SABMiller. In November 2002, for the first time in its history, the Velké Popovice Brewery exceeded the boundary of one million hectolitres of beer produced in one year. This added on to the 43.5 million produced since 1874. The companys managements decision to further invest in expanding the brewerys capacity opens the way to more records.

Velké Popovice, a small Czech town located close to Prague, has been mentioned since the 14th century.The first official report from the 16th century writes about the Popovice Brewery as a property of the Hysrl Family. Also the first written reference to excellent beer brewing originated at this time.

Excursion includes beer tasting and a lunch in the brewery restaurant. 30 km south of Prague. We recommend combining this excursion with a visit to the Konopiště Castle.
