Brno
BRNO is the second largest city in the Czech Republic, and is the capital of Moravia. The town has been a settlement of great importance since the 11th century, and its strong position continues to the present. The dominant sites of the city are Špilberk Castle and Petrov Hill with the St. Peter and St. Paul Cathedral. But a visit to Tugendhat villa, the first masterpiece of modern architecture in the Czech Republic (and the fourth in the world) listed as a UNESCO heritage site, should not be missed either. Brno is not only a beautiful historical town, but also a modern city with a rich cultural life. Thanks to the Brno Exhibition Centre it is an important industrial and business centre.
